Obsessed

I am insanely tired right now. I’ve been roaming the internet for the last couple of evenings (which is why I’ve not written much) for various travel related items and topics.

Unless there’s an unexpected windfall, my next RTW is still about a year away, even though I very much doubt right now that I have the strength to wait that long. But I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I mean a lot, even though the actual idea was only conceived quite recently. I want to travel with the seasons going East.

Since I won’t be able to leave in two weeks time, I will have to postpone the trip accordingly. Nothing else makes sense, because I don’t want to arrive in Australia and then New Zealand at the end of summer. Their summer that is. I want to spent Christmas in New Zealand and it’s not going to be this Christmas.

So, anyway. All that aside I have been looking into what route to take and have already written a packing list. I want/need to travel much lighter than last time around and since I am following the seasons, the weather should mostly be nice, if not warm or downright hot.

That means I need certain clothes and only a certain size of backpack, because my current backpack is at least 65L big, which is huge. When I left the first time around things were a lot different. This time I’ll be travelling constantly and lightweight is absolutely essential. You can be as fit as anything, but you don’t need to crush your spine because of the stuff you’re lugging around.

These days almost everything can be bought abroad, even in less developed countries. Hell, they make most of the stuff I’m currently wearing anyway.

Lightweight, high quality and durable it is. My list is not final, but fairly complete at this stage. In writing anyway, because there are a few things I still need to buy, which I will do in the next few months.

Once I have everything I will conceivably take with me, I’ll pack my backpack and will try it out. I may actually walk around the area with it fully packed for a few hours here and there (learning Spanish as I am walking) and see how things go.

I am going to have to take an ultrabook and I can’t go without my DSLR. Both items are currently not in my possession either. The ultrabook is on it’s way, and I will get a new DSLR for my birthday.

Oh, and the satchel that will hold both is even further away to be in my possession.

Never mind, as you can see, this is the first and foremost thing on my mind, sleeping or waking. Once I’m all sorted, I will relax and all will be well.

My Amazon wishlist looks colourful right now, but contains a lot of the things I need. And I mean need. I’m going to be as frugal as possible, as organized as usual, and as prepared as I can be without killing the joy.

Naturally, I need to make a budget.

And just to get this straight, I’m enjoying this immensely.
