I’ve caught a cold. That’s the bad news. That resulted in a bit of a non-voluntary writing break, because I was just not able to produce a single sensible sentence.
I have about 15,000 more words to go before I finish the target of 50,000 for NaNoWriMo. And nine days to go.
The good news is, though my average pace per day has dropped, I can still make it at a decent pace, because I’m still below the pace of minimum daily words to write that is required. Writing at least 1,667 words a day for the next nine days is therefore achievable.
I’ll be writing a lot this weekend, if I can I’ll finish.
I’ve realized today that this has been the longest absence from my blog in a very long time. I’ve been wanting to write a few times, I’m still juggling a few ideas, but my energy was pumped into NaNoWriMo and there was no room for blogging.
I have yet to post photos on Tumblr from my trip to Barcelona this past weekend. Never mind that my travel blog hasn’t seen me in a month or so.
In the meantime I have also collected more ideas for potential stories, short or long. I take notes, as usual.
But first I need to finish this. I am on page 88 in my Word document, just starting Chapter 13. There’s already a lot of editing waiting for me and I have found myself going back several times to add bits and pieces where they fit, because I felt I needed them.
I don’t think I have much time to work on structure going forth. But I think, before I work on the next story, I will have a better layout. A battle plan, if you will.
I’m not quite there yet, but I have enough time to make it.
We’ll see what happens down the road, if this first draft will grow into something that may even be publishable one day. Right now all I want to be able to say is this:
I made it.
