Okay, this is incredible… or rather, unbelievable and utterly outrageous. A sixteen year old teen, who apparently did not realize what the consequences of his actions were, because he has wealthy parents, killed four people in a car accident and injured another nine. So he gets ten years on probation and spends a year in some rehab facility.
How is that teaching him anything about the consequences his actions can have?
The same judge previously sentenced a fourteen year old to ten years in juvi, who accidentally killed one person, but was not affluent and thus should be held responsible for his actions, because clearly he wasn’t a pampered little tit?
And the psychologist, who argued in favour of the sixteen year old prat tells us that this is just how the world works.
Excuse me?!?! Who fraking decides how the world works? Who’s making this world work? Is it us, or are we just puppets in a giant freakin’ theatre with no will power of their own?
And they call that a justice system. What a joke.
I don’t live in the U.S. and this is just another reason why I would never entertain the thought. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the USA per se or its people, but there are so many things that would get me into trouble, because I would be a seriously angry activist, if I lived in the States, and I don’t think I’d have any desire of putting myself under the mercy of the American justice system.
Especially not when people simply sit back and decide that this is how the world works.
My sincere condolences to everyone suffering under such ignorance.
